Jordan Deal (they/them) is an interdisciplinary artist whose work defies conventional boundaries. Using their body as a conduit, Deal navigates the intersections of performance, sound, and film to unravel the forces that shape socio-political structures, mythologies, and anomalies. Through their use of speculative philosophy, punk tonalities, myth, and process-based research, they have developed an approach that bleeds into avant-theatrical public interventions and sonic compositions. They utilize vocal and movement based improvisational techniques in order to harness and disperse a concept they call chaos force as a subversive material and methodology. Their shapeshifting forms are intended to experiment with embodied black queer futurity–rendering the space between fugitivity, subterranean landscapes, worldbuilding, resistance, and a love poetic.

Through the use of collected and found field recordings, video/film documenta, and autobiographical myth fabrication, Deal explores language, dialectics, borders and territories; reproductive destruction; memory; and agency .

They have presented performance work internationally such as at Cafe OTO London, CTM Festival, Performing Arts Forum France, Judson Memorial Church NYC, the Center for Performance Research BK, NY, Zé dos Bois Galeria, and Icebox Project Space Philadelphia. They have exhibited sculptural and sonic installations at Fleisher-Ollman gallery (Phila, PA), Vox Populi (Phila, PA), Grizzly Grizzly (Phila,PA), Fleisher Art Memorial, amongst others.

Jordan Deal is a 2024 recipient of the MAPFund Grant and has been an artistic fellow at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art. They were invited as a 2024 recipient of the BASC residency and performer in the Performance Mix Festival #38. In the Fall of 2022, Deal was a research fellow at Amant Foundation in Brooklyn, New York, where they continued their investigations of chaos force.

Their video work have been part of selections in Blackstar Film Festival (Phila, PA), Vox Populi, Grizzly Grizzly, Center of Performance Research, Indie Short Fest, and Paris Film Festival. They have been included in press such as PROTOCINEMA/PROTODISPATCH, ARTNews, ArtBlog, Titled House Review Spring 2021 issue and Grizzly Grizzly: In Dialogue.

In 2024, Jordan Deal released their debut LP titled Seas of Triple Consciousness with London-based record label Horn of Plenty Records. Their previous album under ROSEKILLJUPITER titled GOGO UNDERWORLD, was released in 2022 with Philadelphia-based Cor Ardens.
